Spirituality
Anchored in the Catholic tradition and the mission of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, volunteers will have opportunities to further their faith life during their year of service. With the hope of integrating their faith journey with their volunteer work, theological reflection becomes a necessary element in the everyday life of a SSJ Mission Corps Volunteer.
To further the faith journey of every volunteer, volunteers participate in theological reflection, sharing the state of the heart, retreats, spiritual direction, and prayer-all mentored in the spirit of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. *Volunteers need not be Catholic but are asked to have an appreciation and openness for Catholic practices of the faith.

- Orientation/Opening Retreat: Before beginning work at your site all volunteers will participate in a week-long orientation/retreat.
- Fall Retreat: The Fall retreat takes place during the month of October. It is a time for volunteers to get away for a weekend and reflect on the first 3 months of being a SSJ Mission Corps volunteer.
- Winter/Spring Retreat: The focus of this retreat will be giving volunteers the opportunity to reflect of their own faith journey. This will partially be a silent retreat allowing time for discernment for "what's next".
- Closing Retreat: The closing retreat will be a time for each volunteer to process their experience of the past 11 months. How have you grown? What do you want to take with you as you move-on? What was the gift of this year?
